padU.S.S. Harder,<br>by Michael W. Wooten

The U.S.S. Harder is one of the most famous American submarines to serve in the United States fleet in WWII. Its commander, Sam Dealy, won the Medal of Honor, one of only seven to be awarded to American sub skippers during the war. His sub's motto was "Hit 'em Harder!", and he and his crew did. Dealy earned his well-deserved fame by attacking enemy destroyer head-on, sinking many with "down the throat" shots. Such daring exacted a high cost, however, and the U.S.S. Harder was lost in action with all hands.

This limited edition is a tribute to Commander Dealy, and commemorates the "Up Periscope" symposium held at the Admiral Nimitz Museum in Fredricksburg, Texas, in 1989. During WWII, seven American submarine commanders were awarded the Medal of Honor. Of these seven medals, three were awarded posthumously. This is the only limited edition that will ever be signed by all four Medal of Honor winning sub skippers who survived the war. The edition is also signed by Chester Nimitz, Jr., winner of the Navy Cross and the last man to see Sam Dealy before the U.S.S. Harder was lost. This is truly a unique and highly collectible edition, certain to greatly increase in value. Edition of 1,000 with 50 artist proofs. Print Size 34” x 17 ½”.
